In 2008 when I first visited Blombos, I realised the significance of the connnection between this, the site where the first conceptual art ever done by human beings was discovered on the walls of caves, and the amount of plastic that our contemporary culture produces and lays to waste.

For a number of years, after coming across all the plastic waste found at Blombos, and realising the significance of our contemporary culture’s attitude to waste in relation to the cave paintings of antiquity, I wanted to return to make a video piece.
