The Lumo Quatro light is unique - revolving through 4 sides each with its own flavour and mood of lighting and style.  Supported on a 1m 70cm copper lamp stand  - this is the gold-standard of recycled beach lighting.

Crabdog lights were inspired by the 18th century legend of the "Crab-dog".

Early colonial seafarers in Southern Indian oceans (historians suggest off the islands of Bazaruto or the smaller Ilha Magaruque - certainly somewhere between Madagascar and Mozambique), told of encountering a ghostly creature with a beaming eye like a cyclops and which shone at night like a beacon.  As one ship's captain's report recounts:

"The heat was intense, the green islands fervid. We yearned for sweet water and fruit for our parched lips - but we were left to gaze in speechless wonder, spellbound by the scene before us: a strange creature stood ashore like a large Crab Dog with a single eye beaming like a beacon - a proud guardsman of those white emerald sands.   If we'd passed those islands by day it might have been different - but it was dusk, and the light from its eye put fear into our arrival. We abandoned all hope of achieving our journey without difficulty, cruel providence permitting us to struggle southwards to find our salvation. But the sight of that strange luminous Crabdog that was the mating of a giant fiddler crab with a feral dog, will stay with us forever".

This is an original prototype design for a series of motor vehicles made from bottle tops and a single piece of tubing.  The beauty is in its simplicity and minimalism.
